The Buffet Breakfast at Balay Dako
27 January, 2016
onLast weekend upon the invitation of some friends, we purposefully drove up to Tagaytay to sample the buffet breakfast at Balay Dako. For P550 you can choose entrees from numerous stations situated around the spacious upper floor of the restaurant.
The food has more of a Filipino bent, ranging from hot dishes like tapa, tocino, longganiza, different types of kakanins, breads, eggs and a make your own fried rice station.
Drinks are inclusive to the cost, including hot chocolate, coffee, tea and different types of juices. As one would expect from an establishment of Chef Antonio Escalante, everything is made in house including jams and cheeses.
I would advise that you come hungry, so that you can actually get a taste of what is available. My favorites were the ginataang halo-halo with its many ingredients and, of course, the fried rice station.
One caveat, reservations are not accepted so either come really early or be prepared to wait for some time before being seated. I am a big fan of Filipino breakfasts, and for me this is one of the best you can have considering the price and variety. Go now!
