Getting Lit at LIT

By Anonymous Paul on 12 June, 2015

Japanese whiskeys seem to have exploded in popularity over the past couple of years. Which explains the seeming shortage in Japan’s airport shops. And I think Manila’s quite fortunate enough to have this establishment paying homage to more than the “usual” Yamazakis and Nikkas, however excellent they may be.

I love the dark, manly, library-like interiors of Lit. And the smell of pine as you enter. The shelves are impressively stocked and the menu has a vast selection; from the more familiar to the more esoteric Japanese spirits. You can opt to take tasting portions or full shots. And there are reasonably priced flights for blended and single malt varieties.

I had opted for a couple of highballs given how hot and humid it’s been these days. Including one mixed with a very aromatic umeshu (plum wine).

Service is detailed, attentive and water glasses are always refilled. Another favorite watering hole added to the list.
